The Horse Racing Division hosted the Draw Ceremony for The People’s Derby Cup at Marina Garden, in Port-Louis, on Wednesday, 30 August 2023. The Group 1 Classic race of the People’s Turf Plc will be run over 2400 m at the Champ de Mars on Sunday, 3 September 2023. The Gatekeeper, the Rameshwar Gujadhur trained, is the bookies hot favourite at 1-2, and has obtained draw number 1.
The other horses taking part in the big race are: Twist Of Fate (2), Alshibaa (5), Holy Warrior (6), Favour (3) and Lunafacation (4).
Mr. Krishnakantsingh Auchoybur, acting Head of the Horse Racing Division, and Mr. Deanthan Moodley, Racing Executive and Chief Stipe of the HRD, greeted the assistance and wished good luck to all participants of the first edition of the People’s Derby Cup.
