At an inquiry held at the offices of the Horse Racing Division today, the Racing Stewards imposed a fine of Rs 40 000 on Trainer C Ramdin, after a sample of his horse, After The Order, taken on 20 July 2023, revealed the presence of Dexamethasone, a prohibited substance (class 4). After The Order was withdrawn from Race 1 (The We Love Mahebourg Volunteer Cup) of Race Meeting 18 on 22 July 2023.
The Racing Stewards charged Trainer C Ramdin for a contravention of Rule 69.1.2 which reads: “The Trainer of a Horse shall be guilty of an offence if a Sample taken from a Horse at any time within 72 hours preceding the Day of the Race in which it is or was due to run.”
Trainer C Ramdin pleaded not guilty, but was found guilty as charged. He was informed of his right to Appeal.
