Jockey Fayd’herbe suspended 1 year and fined Rs 100K

South African Jockey Bernard Fayd’herbe has been suspended a year and fined Rs 100 000 by the Racing Stewards of the Horse Racing Division on Friday, 19 May 2023, for his ride on horse Castle Of Glass, in Race 3 (The Shatta Mauritius Concert Cup), ran at the Champ de Mars Racecourse on Saturday, 13 May 2023, for Race Meeting 9 at People’s Turf Plc.

Jockey Fayd’herbe was charged under Rule 43.1 for his passive manner and lack of vigour in the straight, prejudicing the chances of his horse to win the race. Bernard Fayd’herbe pleaded not guilty to the charge, but was found guilty as charged by the Racing Stewards, and was informed of his right of Appeal. The suspension period for Jockey Fayd’herbe is from 24 May 2023 to 23 May 2024.
