South African jockey Anthony Andrews has withdrawn his appeal for his 5-Meeting suspension on Cartel Boss; the Gambling Regulatory Authority’s Appeal Committee informed the Horse Racing Division on October 20, 2022. The withdrawal occurs a day after his 24-Meeting suspension on Charlie Squadron was confirmed by the Appeal Committee.
A. Andrews was suspended for five Race Meetings by the Stewards of the Horse Racing Division on Wednesday 21 September 2022, for having breached rule 208 (d) on Meeting 21, in Race 6, The Lightning Cup, while on horse Cartel Boss. The race was run at The MTC Sports and Leisure, at the Champ de Mars racecourse, on Saturday 17 September 2022.
Jockey Andrews pleaded not guilty; however, he was found guilty of the contravention, for failing to take every possible and all necessary steps to ensure that he or his horse did not cross, jostle, bunch, interfere with or intimidate horse Alramz between 600 m and 400 m.
