The Head of the Horse Racing Division (HRD), Wayne Wood, flied back to Mauritius on Monday night, and was in his office in Port-Louis, at Level 5, Newton Tower, on Tuesday morning. After three weeks in homeland Australia, where he underwent medical examinations, he is ready to go again.
“I got the green light from my doctor to resume my duties in Mauritius. I am pleased to be back in the saddle to continue the work that has been set in place since the inception of the HRD.”
Furthermore, Mr. Wood has immediately expressed his concerns regarding the track condition of the Champ de Mars. “I attended trackwork on Wednesday 14 September 2022, noticing how sections had degenerated over the last month. Prior to my departure, I had replied to a letter from COIREC, explaining my thoughts on how to improve the maintenance of the Champ de Mars.”
21 race meetings remain to be conducted this year, with the last one scheduled on Sunday 18 December 2022.
