Sola gets one month suspension for failing breathalyser test

Mauritian jockey Vikram Sola was suspended for a period of one month (from 18th September 2022 to midnight 17th October 2022) by the Racing Stewards of the Horse Racing Division (HRD) on Wednesday 14 September 2022. He pleaded guilty of failing a breathalyser test prior to Race Meeting 20, at People’s Turf Plc, on Sunday 11 September 2022 at the Champ de Mars racecourse.

He was charged under rule 92 (a), combined with rule 94 (a), that reads “…a banned substance means the following psycho-active substances: Alcohol – at or above a screening limit of 10 micrograms of ethanol per 100 millilitres of breath…”. At the racecourse, jockey O. Sola’s reading was 20 micrograms per 100 ml of breath.

Jockey Sola has been informed of his right to appeal.
