South African jockey Anthony Andrews will miss Race Meeting 19 and Race Meeting 20, through suspension, on 10 and 11 September 2022 respectively. This follows trainer Patrick Merven’s jockey decision to withdraw his appeal for his suspension on horse Nimitz, for interference while riding in race 8 of Race Meeting 13, The Nitram Plate, run under the MTC Sports And Leisure Limited, on Saturday 6 August 2022.
Anthony Andrews was charged by the Racing Stewards of the Horse Racing Division under Rule 208 (d) on 10 August 2022. He pleaded guilty and was suspended for two race meetings. He appealed the sanction, before withdrawing it on Thursday 8 August 2022. The appeal was to be heard on Friday 9 August 2022.
