Anthony Andrews gets 3 Meetings suspension for Padre Pio

South African jockey Anthony Andrews appeared before the Stewards of the Horse Racing Division on the 23 August 2022, for his riding of horse Padre Pio on Saturday 20 August 2022, during Race Meeting 16 at the Mauritius Turf Club. The Stewards were concerned about an incident which occurred in Race 6, The Winter Stakes, between the 1800 m and the 1500 m, whereby Royal Wulff (S. Bussunt), The Gatekeeper (C. Maujean), Patrol Officer (J De Souza), Holy Warrior (K. Chumun) and Favour (S. Rama) had to ease. It was established that Jockey Andrews (Padre Pio) was at the origin of the incident. He was charged under rule 208 (b) and pleaded not guilty, but was found guilty by the Stewards. He was suspended from riding in 3 Race Meetings.
