At an inquiry held at the office of the Horse Racing Division on 3 July 2024, Jockey M. Sonaram has been suspended for 12 Race Meetings by the Racing Stewards for his ride on horse Skating On Ice in Race 4 of Race Meeting 8, run at the Champ de Mars racecourse on 22 June 2024. Jockey Sonaram was charged for contravening Rule 43.2.1, in that his riding was passive between the 400m and the 100m to the finishing line.
Jockey Sonaram pleaded not guilty, but was found guilty as charged by he Racing Stewards. Skating On Ice finished second, two and a half lengths off the winner (Aditi).
Jockey Sonaram was informed of his right to appeal.
