Jockey Boutanive sanctioned for slack riding

Jockey Roland Boutanive appeared before the Racing Stewards of the Horse Racing Division on Tuesday, 2 July 2024, in relation to his riding of horse Clouded Hill in Race 2 during Race Meeting 8, run at the Champ de Mars racecourse on 22 June 2024. He was charged for a contravention of Rule 43.2.1, for not riding his horse in the final straight to obtain the best possible place. Clouded Hill finished 5th, 7.65 lengths off the winner (Special Force); 2.55 lengths off 3rd placed horse (Savvy), and 2.00 lengths off 4th placed horse (Waimea).

Jockey Boutanive pleaded not guilty, but was found guilty as charged. He is suspended for 6 Race Meetings, and has the right to appeal.
